This easy recipe combines savory, slightly sweet flavors, making it a perfect dish for busy nights when you want something satisfying and healthy.
Ingredients
Sesame oil
1 lb ground beef
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 carrot, cut into small matchsticks
1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (or 1 teaspoon dry ginger ground)
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 beef bouillon cube
1/2 cup water
Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch)
Directions
- In a large fry pan, brown beef with peppers and carrots.
- Once the carrots have softened a little, add the remaining ingredients to the pan (EXCEPT the final corn starch and water)
- After all has combined, in a small bowl mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until no lumps remain.Add to the pan.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes until liquid has become thicker (like a thin gravy).
- Serve over rice, noodles or as lettuce wraps.
